While Invisalign and traditional braces both work towards the same goal, they go about it quite differently. Compared to conventional braces, Invisalign offers a much easier caring procedure. Simply because you can take it out, you can take care of your teeth normally, ensuring healthy teeth during the straightening process.

That being said, knowing how to care for said teeth with Invisalign is still a must. Though taking care of your teeth is easier on Invisalign, there are still quite a few concerns. If you want to learn how to keep your teeth and gums healthy while Invisalign, keep reading.

Remove and clean the trays

Before you clean your teeth, you must first remove the Invisalign tray. After all, particles will build up the nooks and crannies in your teeth. You will need unfettered access to clean your teeth properly. However, the teeth are not the only thing you will have to clean. The tray will also need proper cleaning.

Throughout the day, when you eat or drink, particles will build up under the tray even if you remove them before eating. As such, you will need to clean the tray thoroughly to ensure that bacteria does not breed. To clean the tray, you should use a proper Invisalign cleaning system. Leave it there for around fifteen minutes, and it will leave the tray bacteria-free.

Brush your teeth properly

With the tray removed and cleaned, now you can brush your teeth. Typically, you can follow your normal routine of cleaning the teeth with soft-bristled brushes twice a day with the appropriate toothpaste, but you might want to brush your teeth after each meal to remove particles trapped underneath the tray.

Be sure to reach as deep as possible with the brush to ensure no bacteria is left to cause havoc. Make sure to wait fifteen minutes after eating before brushing to allow the teeth to settle as well.

When you cannot brush your teeth, give your mouth a good gargle with fresh water. This will loosen and remove particles. Keep in mind that this will not replace brushing, as gargling can only do so much to keep your teeth clean.

Don’t forget to floss

Apart from brushing your teeth, flossing is also important. Flossing gets rid of any particles within the crevices of your teeth where the toothbrush cannot reach. Fortunately, because you are using Invisalign, you do not have to deal with metal braces that get in the way.

After flossing your teeth, consider rinsing your mouth with mouthwash. This will further clean your teeth, ensuring that every part of the teeth is coated with an antibacterial solution. Just remember to gargle for the given amount of time stated on the packaging for the full effect.

Conclusion

As you can see, caring for your teeth with Invisalign is essentially the same as cleaning your teeth on a regular day. The only difference is that you would have to clean the trays as well, which is easy enough.

That being said, do not get lazy when it comes to caring for your teeth. Dental issues are expensive—not to mention painful—and you do not want to put your teeth at risk. Keep your habit of cleaning your teeth thoroughly, and before you know it, you will have perfectly straight teeth that are healthy.
